culinary school in san francisco??

i want to go to culinary school in san francisco.. for the people who have been to some.. what is the best one to go to??what are your oppinions about it.. thanx

I found the link below which helps you sort through available schools. There are two listed in San Francisco, though I am not familiar with Tante Marie's Cooking School. Be sure to do your research.

The decline of the CCA is really unfortunate. It was a highly reputed school with graduates who did well. Le Cordon Bleu is apparently a chain (there's one in S.Cal at least, maybe more). It does not have the distintion of the old CCA.

CCA doesn't have a very good reputation within the hospitality industry. It is viewed as little more than a diploma mill. The local weekly did a series of articles on them that you may want to review. Here is a link to one of them:

City College on the other hand has a pretty good F&B department and is actually well thought of and much less expensive

Culinary Institute of America, Johnson and Wales University, American University of Rome, John Cabot University, San Francisco State University.

No. All of these schools are pretty easy to get into. If you graduate from a ok high school, then you can get in.

July 7th i start school at the California Culinary Academy in San Francisco , California in the Hospitality and Restaurant Management i will be finished with school in september of next year.. i wish to start the hotel in two years and will do what ever it takes to fufill my vision.. I have a name and plans for what i would like my chain to have such as special amenities and things. i wanna know exactly what i need to start doing right now to be able to start my business.. I eventually want to have my chain of hotels restaurants and casinos spread throughout the country and then take the world by storm.
bonnie wat is your email adress :)

Well, if you have the property under agreement now, you should start the process of planning, zoning, and regulatory approvals. In an ideal world, with the right amount of political support, it might take 5 years to get the approvals that you need … and I would estimate about $2 million in contributions, application fees, engineers, lawyers, etc.

Of course, casinos are a highly regulated business, so you would need to apply to the state casino commission, where the casino will be built, and wait until all of the approvals, investigations, etc. are complete … about 2 years for most first time successful applications.

For a successful bid at a casino project, expect that you will need to secure $150M, minimum in funding, plus have the staying power for endless delays … construction, regulatory, unions, special interest groups.

Trust me. Culinary school will not teach you what you need ot know for this type of venture … maybe Wharton Business or Harvard Business would be a good start.

There is no shame in owning a small and successful business … but unless you are papered BIG, you will not have a chance. The Bellagio in AC, NJ was a $1B project … more than most can handle.

Find a small restaurant, have a consistant menu, and enjoy a nice living.
