If I enroll in the Associate in Early Childhood Education program will I actually have my associates degree, or will I have to do more schooling? The course outline looks nothing like an actual college's requirements of math, english, etc. and the cost is so much lower that I'm doubtful that it will result in a true associates degree. For the other courses too, such as culinary arts or pharmacy tech for example, do the programs just provide you with information so you can just learn more about those fields, like teaching you how to cook for personal use and info, etc. without giving you some kind of degree or certificate to show for it? Would you have something in hand to show an employer to make more money or start a new career altogether? For instance, would you really be a licensed pharmacy tech just by doing the program, or are there additional steps in getting the proper license/credentials? I currently work in a daycare and want to make childcare into a better paying career in the daycare setting only, but the pay now is terrible, so I'm looking into anything useful to increase my pay. I'm not interested in owning my own daycare, or opening one at home, I just want to move up in pay where I'm already employeed either as a teacher still or moving up into one of the office/administrative/assistant director positions. Penn Foster offers child daycare mgmt, child dev. associates credential, and an associates in early childhood education, but I don't know what would be my best option as far as a complete program or if the associates will actually be an associates degree. I know the cda is great to have, but I know there's a lot to it; Penn Foster just gives you the 120 hours needed without all the other stuff involved. I want a course that's all inclusive. I don't want to pay out a lot of money that I don't really even have if I won't have something concrete to show for it. So does anyone have an idea of how much more you can earn in a daycare in Texas with any of those college options? Is it like a dollar more an hour or what? I have no clue how worthwhile any of it is, including the cda that everyone in daycare seems to covet the most. What's my best option for the most optimum pay increase?
You will get an actual Associates Degree if you complete this program.

I cannot truly decide what to do for my future, when I graduate high school in just 1 and a half more years–almost. [I'm a junior]. I’ve considered these top two majors in no certain order: pharmacy, and culinary arts. [I honestly wish I could attend an academy or something to train and become a pro tennis player though, lol]. But for pharmacy–my parents would be happy, and I’d be glad to get paid well and doing quite a simple job, still striving to work. But, sometimes I think it would get very boring, I just dont want to spend the majority of my life doing something that pays well, although I dont enjoy it as much as I would something else.
For culinary arts–I want to own my own restuarant someday, but a lot of people have told me of the challenge for accomplishing that. I was wondering if I perhaps went to the San Diego Art Institute and got a bachelor’s degree from there–would I be able to enroll for some executive chef or some grand job at some prestige restaurant or something in/around San Diego?
If I chose to keep the major of pharmacy I’d just go to university of california in san diego. I only choose san diego because the rest of my family lives there, and after i grad. high school here in texas, i’m moving in with my grandparents in san diego, lol; my family’ll be moving to san diego soon afterwards, though, once they retire.
i was just wanting to know if there would be any prestigious, great paying jobs/restaurants where i could just cook or something and earn a great living that way. otherwise i’ll just resolve by joining the food network, lol, and hopefully having my own show, someday, but not when i’m like 40 or 50 or older…
How is it working as a pharmacist? if anyone knows. what would you choose to be if you were faced with these two decisions?
why?
thanks, djokerfan!
Aww Anon that would have been sick to have a professional tennis player on my contact list. But I too am a junior in hs so I don’t know to much about these jobs but here:
Here are some things that a pharmacist does during the day:

ok, i was thinking about leaving college to become a pastry chef.
my ultimate dream is to have my own shop.
anyway, in texas the average pastry chef makes $35,000. i'm single, with no kids and living in texas is pretty cheap.
do you think i'll be able to survive?
do you think going to culinary school is a good move? i really don't feel happy here in college. i feel like i'm being fake. why? i think the sole reason i'm still here is because it is expected of me. i was a geek in high school with a 4.0 gpa.
plz help…
Thats better than average and a single person can easily make it and more on that salary……
